The up-and-coming Taiwanese artist Ryan Su ( 修賢) was born in Taipei City, Taiwan. He studied arts in National Taiwan University of Arts and gained Master of Fine Arts in Tunghai University.

While working in the Western medium of oil painting, Su bases his works on the symbolism of nature and objects found in traditional Chinese painting and Eastern thought. He paints his black and white works with the same kind of brush used in Chinese ink painting, giving each of his subjects and compositions special meaning. Ryan Su’s intent is to transcend the dichotomy of East vs. West, taking us to a point beyond the contemporary art world’s fixation with placing the two in competition with each other.
